The Downtown Memphis Commission and Beale Street management announce the inaugural Patio Porkers on Beale competition*. The contest will invite 30 teams to compete in a one-day smoke-off to determine the ultimate best of the backyard barbecuers.
Patio Porkers, formerly part of the Memphis in May’s World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest, extends the competition barbecue experience beyond Tom Lee Park and onto world-famous Beale Street. The single-day ribs-only contest will take place Saturday, May 20, 2023, in Handy Park. Access to watch the competition is free and open to the public! And to satisfy those looking to eat barbecue, Beale Street has 10 restaurants** within walking distance of Handy Park that all serve barbecue every day of the year.
